The Women of René Bouché

10 April–7 June 2026

Acne Paper Palais Royal presents The Women of René Bouché, 70 portrait drawings from the René Bouché Studio Archive, unseen since 1957 and preserved by his widow, Denise Bouché. Curated by Dean Rhys-Morgan, this exhibition brings them together for the first time since Bouché’s final exhibition at the Alexander Iolas Gallery in 1957. Together, they form a constellation of women central to mid-twentieth-century cultural and social life. Bouché, remembered principally as a Vogue fashion artist, revealed subtle character and presence, portraying sitters and their social worlds beyond mere likeness.
